Water tank is an indispensable component of public water supply system for industrial sector and civil applications. Now, color concrete water tank and steel plate water tank are mainly used in China, however, the leak and scaling of the former, and rust corrosion of the latter have both produced serious adverse impact on application of the water tank. According to on-the-spot inspection made by Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, 85% of the water tank water supply system in China cannot reach the water quality standard due to pollution on water tank caused by bacteria, and rust corrosion.
Since 1980s, the assembled FRP water tanks have been widely adopted, which have solved the above problems. The FRP water tank has advantages of no-leak, no-deformation, no-pollution, and long service life, etc. Besides, it is easy to assemble, beautiful in form, and water tank of various tonnage can be supplied according to demand of the users. The assembled FRP water tank developed on joint efforts of China Non-Metallic Material Technology Industrial Company, Beijing FRP Research Institute and this Company uses the internationally advanced technology of 1980s and is assembled with 1.1m module plate and 1.6m module plate. The 1.1m module plate is applicable for water tank with capacity below 20m3, while the 1.6m module plate can be assembled into 20-85m3 water tank.
Wind pressure, accumulated snow, earthquake and body load at different regions are taken into consideration for design strength of water tank body. The water tank is equipped with water lift, water supply, overflow, drainage, manhole, and latter facilities, and it is the most ideal product for modern building structure and transformation of the old water tank. This water tank and resin material have both passed chemical and toxicological test performed by Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine Environmental Hygienic Engineering Research Institute and Shanghai Sanitation & Anti-Epidemic Station, and the result shows that no toxicity and forbidden chemicals are found. The immersion water quality conforms to the national standard of China on drinking water, and it also conforms to Japanese national standard on water quality of elevated water tank.
Purpose: The assembled water tank is applicable for temporary supply water storage on construction site, which can regulate water supply; expansion and condensate water tank for heating system; and temporary water tank for geological survey and national defense projects.
Points for attention on manufacture and installation of the water tank: The assembled water tank is made of 1000¡Á1000 and 1000¡Á500 standard steel module cut from Q235A¦Ä5 steel plate, which will be drilled on perimeter and galvanized, or subject to other anti-corrosion treatment before assembly on site. Upon assembling, rubber liner should be sandwiched between standard modules, and connected with bolts. Standard single module weighs 47.0kg and 26.4kg, respectively.
Size and position of inlet/outlet pipe and overflow pipe of the water tank will be decided upon design: At least 700mm service corridor should be provided around the water tank, and at least 600mm should be provided under or above the water tank. Upon installation, the connection joint between footing and bottom of the water tank should lie on the seat. In case of hot water tank or expansion water tank, the rubber spacer should be replaced by heat resisting rubber spacer.
Design parameters indicated in the atlas of assembled water tank conform to related stipulations of existing Design Code for Water Supply and Drainage of Buildings £¨GBJ15-88£©, and capacity of the water tank is 1.0-30.0m3. As many as 18 types are available for design, or special design and manufacture can be customized as per length, width and height sizes required by users.
Corrosion prevention of the water tank: Main body and accessories of the water tank are available for galvanization, plastic spray, aluminum spray, white epoxy resin varnish coating, and epoxy FRP application depending on users¡¯ demand.
Thermal insulation of the water tank: PS is adopted as the thermal insulation material.
Water loading test of the water tank: After assembling of water tank: close water outlet pipe and drainage pipe, open water inlet pipe, inspect the water while water comes in until the tank is fully loaded. No leakage will be deemed OK after conditioning there for 2-3 hours.
SMC assembled water tank
SMC assembled water tank is the latest water tank widely used in the world today, which is developed by the FRP Research Institute under State Construction Material Bureau, and designed by Beijing Municipal Architectural Design Research Institute. Its unique performance has defeated pollution on water quality caused by heavy weight, high leakage tendency, and moss growth of the old concrete water tank, and rust corrosion and poor anti-rust coating of steel plate water tank. It has therefore those advantages of high water quality, no leakage, light weight, beautiful look, long service life and installation convenience, etc. The water tank has passed acceptance as a key project listed in the National 7th Five Year Plan, and ranks in the new product category to be popularized during the National 8th Five Year Plan period. SMC assembled water tank is applicable for industrial building, residential building, hotel, restaurant, and other public building structures, and used as domestic water or fire water supply or water storage facilities for food, pharmacy, and sanitation sectors which have higher requirements for water quality.
SMC assembled water tank has been initially installed and used in Beijing Shangri La Hotel, Guoyi Hotel, No. 301 Hospital, and Beijing Sanitation & Anti-Epidemic Station. Now, it has been popularized for use among more than twenty provinces and cities in China ranging from southern cities of Haikou, and Sanya to northern cities of Daqing and Harbin, where users are very satisfactory.
Construction of the water tank
SMC assembled water tank is assembled of SMC molded single board, sealing material, metallic structural member, and pipe system. 1-500m water tank can be assembled as per users¡¯demand. If the existing water tank is to be renovated, assembling can be made very easily without bothering removal of the building, and a common door is enough. Its adaptability is strong, providing extreme convenience for design and construction. Normal water tank will be designed according to typical standard, and extra large water tank will be specially designed. The water tank will be sealed with the approved sealing tape that is specially developed for the water tank, which is non-poisonous, water resisting, elastic, and with little permanent deformation, and service life over 30 years.
Hygienic and cleaning performance
This water tank has passed chemical and toxicological test performed by Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine Environmental Hygienic Engineering Research Institute and Shanghai Sanitation & Anti-Epidemic Station, and the result is as follows: no toxicity and forbidden chemicals are found on composite material submitted; the chromatogram and spectrum detection and volatile matter test result: no high content and highly toxic composite is found in immersion water liquid of SMC water tank; toxicological test: result of water immersed animal test of SMC water tank shows no acute toxicity and accumulated toxicity. The tank body immersion water quality conforms to the National Standard of China on Drinking Water (GB5749-85) and Japanese standard on water quality of elevated water tank. So, its operation is safe and reliable.
Stainless steel plate water tank
Both dimension and structural form of the assembled stainless steel plate water tank are the same with that of the assembled steel plate water tank, and the only difference lies in the fact that it is made SUS304¡ê2-¡ê4 stainless steel plate. The stainless steel material is fine, and it produces no rust. Therefore, this is the most ideal high-grade water tank for storage of domestic water. Stamped stainless steel plate welded water tank uses SUS304¡ê2-¡ê4 stainless steel plate to form reinforcing rib, which is welded as an integral part with stainless steel electrode. It has simplified structure, and high strength, and is available for manufacture of water tank of large capacity. Because the tank body is made of stainless steel through integral welding, it absolutely interrupts radiation of sunshine. Under such conditions, no moss will grow and water can always remain clean. Assembled stainless steel plate backed water tank is stamped from SUS3235¡ê2-¡ê4 steel plate and SUS304¡ê1 stainless steel as an integral part, and no reinforcing rib is added on the external part of the tank. The water tank has the advantages of high durability of steel plate tank, and non-rust performance of stainless steel plate tank. Moreover, with lower building cost, it is the most preferable product for storage of cold, hot and drinking water. |
